Rev. Kevin D. Coakley, Senior Servant

Born April 17, 1978 in Charleston, South Carolina, to proud parents Albert and Rose Coakley, I, Kevin Coakley began the journey “Who Am I?”

I matriculated in the offices of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church through four years of successful conference courses of study. Upon completion of the conference study Bishop Joseph Johnson advanced me to the office of Deacon and there I was ordained. Then, the Lord impressed upon the headship of the Late Bishop Clarence Carr to elevate me to the office of Elder.

My education endeavors expands from Antioch University, in Seattle, Washington to Memphis Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee. Education is a priority.

Christian and Secular Education inspired me as a young boy growing up. I knew I was destined to be a preacher and school teacher. I would preach in the basement of our home when no one was looking and I would teach my imaginary students mimicking one of the best African American female teachers, Mrs. Duncan. Who inspired me to become a teacher by modeling what it meant to be an educator.

Habakkak 2:2-3 declares, “And the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry!

I am a young man with a vision! One who carries his audience on a spiritual journey through the Word of the Lord. The Lord has anointed me a charismatic, progressively semi-seasoned, trained, and Holy Ghost led and filled preacher, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ through the land.

Excellent managerial, communicable, and professional skills are a must. Of the many attributes there are, I am a man of character, honesty, trustworthiness, integrity, and of respectability.

There are other gifts that the Lord has blessed me with. As a musician, I am an organist, singer, and director, in short very musically endowed.

My passion, you ask? As a preacher, I aim to strengthen each person's confidence and joy in Jesus Christ - at every point in their life, and encourage personal and spiritual growth through prayer, and active service in the church and community.

With a Kingdom mindset, my mission is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through discipleship and love for our brothers and sisters as recorded in John 13:35. I put my faith into practice by living the life, preaching to the unsaved, and teaching the saved to serve by fulfilling the Christian mandate, “Making Christian Disciples”. Matthew 18:16-20.

I have purposed to spread the gospel news of Christ Jesus through the word of God, worship and praise, and outreach missions.
